It’s no suprise to anyone who knows the Stutts family that TJ Stutts is one of the rising stars in sprint car racing today. Racing is what this family is about. TJ’s grandfather, father, uncles and cousins have all had successful racing careers. All beginning at their family business Stutts Karts- WS Stutts schooled his boys in hard work, clean living and a whole lot of racing! TJ first sat in a go kart when he was only a few days old, a sprint car at three years, at four his parents will tell you he had made up his mind, he was going to race. From working at the kart shop to scrubbing tires on family owned sprint cars TJ was focused. At age eight TJ’s dad set his racing aside to aid his young son in following his dream. Karting brought TJ exactly what he expected- success. From asphalt to dirt, road course to oval tracks TJ brought home trophy after trophy from race tracks all over the nation.
TJ made the transition from go karts to 358 sprint cars in the ultra competitive Pennsylvania Circuit in 2000. In true Stutts tradition TJ quickly found victory lane and remained a frequent visitor there during his tenure in the 358 division. TJ ran a limited schedule in the series through 2004 while pursuing a degree at Penn State College of Technology in Welding and Fabrication Engineering. TJ continued to his show his unending determination and drive- building, fabricating and maintaining his own race cars while amassing 18 wins, 75 top 5 finishes and 123 top 10 finishes in 165 starts and still graduating with honors.
In 2005 TJ’s childhood dream became reality as he first sat behind the wheel of a 410 sprint car. He quickly earned the respect of his peers and his rightful place as a member of the famed Pennsylvania Posse. As a regular competitor at the historic Williams Grove Speedway TJ won his first 410 feature, was the leading heat race winner and earned the coveted Williams Grove Rookie Of the Year title.
If there is one word to describe TJ Stutts, its determined. He is determined to race, determined to succeed, and determined to make his family and sponsors proud. That determination has now turned not only to winning races, but championships. To not only being a member of the legendary Pennsylvania Posse, but to being the best they have to offer the world. And maybe most importantly to inspiring the next generation to dream, to race, and to never stop giving life 100 percent. And he will succeed.
